A Note to the families and friends of the CYMO

We at the CYMO have missed our wonderful audiences this past year. With Covid guidelines changing we have very positive thoughts about our 21-22 season and the many more seasons to come.

The CYMO groups have played on during the pandemic with 135 young musicians coming together and rehearsing virtually each Sunday since November.

The focus of the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra's virtual rehearsals has been to expose the members to many professional musicians and master teachers, to develop each member's skills to the next level of orchestral playing, and to learn repertoire to present the CYMO groups once again.

The schedule for each group has included an introduction by the Executive Director, Janet Samuel, a presentation by conductors Jorge Luis Uzcategui (CYMO ) and Greg Samuel (Intermezzo Orchestra), a 55-minute sectional in 25 different zoom break-out rooms, and a full orchestra meeting at the end of rehearsal that often includes a guest speaker.

Fifty professional musicians have been working with the CYMO and the Intermezzo Orchestra members each week including twelve members of the LA Philharmonic Orchestra, members of other professional orchestras, free-lance and studio musicians, and master teachers.

We are ready to begin our 33rd season and we look forward to presenting outstanding concerts to the community once again. Audition applications will be available on the audition page of the CYMO website (cymo.org) by June 1, 2021.
