Bonus update (7/2/07)!

A friend of Calvin Sheen's dad took pictures from the rehearsal in Salzburg. I've inserted them into the post below.

Yesterday was a busy day! The gang didn't get a chance to check in, so Roger sent his apologies and a quick rundown on that day's events, which I'll recap here.

As for today, it was the first full day in Salzburg, starting with a rehearsal in the gorgeous Mozarteum. "Everybody was stunned," said Roger, and Matt Otto said it was the best room he'd ever played in. Here's a photo from the rehearsal (click for large file):

After rehearsal came a tour of the old city, ending with the house where Mozart was born. The whole group toured all three floors of artifacts and exhibits from Mozart's life, and of course visited the gift shop. More pictures from Wikipedia:

After dinner at the Sternbrau, the gang changed and got ready for their concert, which was a huge success. Roger estimates that the crowd numbered around 500 people--even the ushers came in to listen--and demanded three encores.

Then it was back to Golling, the little Alpine village where the kids are staying, for strudel and cake. Tomorrow will be another big travel day, across the Alps to Italy. Roger is looking forward to the Italian food...
