Report from Roger

Today the orchestras had their last rehearsals to prepare for the concerts. Janet and I went to the airport in Tampa to arrange for the boarding passes to save time tomorrow. Sunday is the day that many cruise ships come into Tampa Bay, and the passengers fly out. So we wanted to avoid as much of the airport procedure as possible.
The concerts today were at 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. They were just fantastic. The kids did a super job, and the conductors guided them to great heights. All of the percussionists just soared. The hall was packed for both concerts. A number of CYMO members had solos in the concerts. I'd like to mention them here. They are Alex Li, Donna Lee, Kayliegh Miller, David Meyer, Laura Hendrickson, Christina Li, Brady Fukumoto, Levi Guthrie, Holly Goldstein, Margaret Otis, Mitchel Dvoracek, Alan Miller, Greg Nielson, Marcus Cannon, Madeline Weller, Joe Muro, and Daniel Trubey.

There was a big thank-you reception with pizza for everybody. One of the conductors thanks us for the kids being so well prepared. He said that it made it a lot easier for him. The clarinet coach had many compliments for the orchestra.

We leave tomorrow morning. Room inspection is at 8:45 a.m. Then we leave the hotel at 10:00 a.m. On the way to the airport we will visit the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburgh. Then we'll have subway sandwiches and drinks on the bus.

We have to be at the Tampa airport at 2:00 p.m. to leave at 4:15 p.m. on Delta flight 1126. The flight arrives in Atlanta at 5:46 p.m. Then they will leave Atlanta on Delta flight 603 at 6:55 p.m. The flight arrives in Los Angeles at 8:23 p.m.

Be sure to check with the airline for the exact time of arrival before you go to the airport. You can call Delta at 1-800-325-1999 or go to http://www.delta.com/ and enter the flight number 603.
